Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Marrakech Essaouira

Your coastal escape begins as you leave the bustling, energetic atmosphere of Marrakech behind for a scenic, relaxed drive towards the Atlantic Ocean. The journey takes you across the arid Haouz plains, where you might spot the famous 'flying goats' balancing in the branches of argan trees. By midday, you will arrive in Essaouira, a laid-back, bohemian port city that has long been a haven for artists and musicians. After checking into your traditional riad, you can spend the afternoon wandering through its breezy, whitewashed medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its blue-shuttered windows. Take a walk along the historic, cannon-lined ramparts of the Skala de la Ville, and end the day enjoying freshly grilled seafood at a rustic stall by the bustling harbor as the sun sets.

Day 2

Essaouira Discovery

Dedicate today to a deeper exploration of the windy, atmospheric city of Essaouira. Start your morning with a stroll along the expansive, sweeping beach, where you can watch kitesurfers catching the Atlantic winds or even opt for a horseback ride along the water's edge. Dive back into the medina to explore the thriving local art scene, visiting numerous small galleries showcasing vibrant, local paintings and crafts. You will also want to visit the workshops of the city's famous Thuya wood artisans, who create intricately inlaid boxes and furniture. In the afternoon, explore the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, to understand the city's diverse cultural heritage. The evening is yours to relax at a rooftop cafe, sipping mint tea and listening to live Gnawa music wafting through the salty air.

Day 3

Essaouira Taghazout Agadir

After a final morning coffee in Essaouira, you will travel southward along one of Morocco's most breathtaking coastal roads. The route hugs the shoreline where the rolling Atlantic ocean meets rugged, dramatic cliffs and secluded coves. Along the way, we will make a stop in the famous, laid-back village of Taghazout, a world-renowned surfing mecca. You can watch surfers riding the impressive breaks, grab a coffee in a bohemian beachfront cafe, and soak in the incredibly relaxed, international vibe. Continuing south, the landscape opens up as you arrive in Agadir, a modern city famous for its wide boulevards and 10 kilometers of pristine sandy beachfront. You will check into your resort hotel, with the rest of the afternoon free to swim, sunbathe, or walk the lively beach promenade.

Day 4

Agadir Leisure & Souk El Had

The morning is entirely yours to enjoy the resort amenities and the expansive, golden beaches that make Agadir a premier holiday destination. Whether you prefer lounging by the pool, swimming in the mild ocean waters, or trying your hand at watersports, the city offers perfect conditions for relaxation. In the afternoon, you will dive into the vibrant local culture with a visit to the massive Souk El Had. As one of the largest markets in all of Africa, this walled souk contains over 6,000 stalls. It is a fantastic, slightly less overwhelming alternative to the markets of Marrakech, offering an incredible array of fresh produce, aromatic spices, intricate leather goods, and beautiful ceramics. It is the perfect place to practice your bargaining skills and pick up authentic souvenirs.

Day 5

Agadir Taroudant Marrakech

Today, you leave the Atlantic coast and travel inland towards the fertile Souss Valley to visit the fascinating walled city of Taroudant. Often referred to as 'Little Marrakech', Taroudant is entirely enclosed by massive, beautifully preserved mud-brick ramparts that glow a spectacular golden-red in the sun. The city offers a highly authentic, untouristy Moroccan experience. You will explore its bustling, everyday souks, known particularly for excellent silver jewelry and traditional crafts, without the aggressive sales pitches found in larger cities. After a traditional lunch within the city walls, you will embark on a highly scenic drive crossing the impressive Tizi n'Test mountain pass. The winding mountain roads offer breathtaking views before you descend back into the familiar energy of Marrakech for your final evening.

Day 6

Departure

Your coastal discovery tour concludes with a final, relaxed Moroccan breakfast at your riad in Marrakech. Depending on the time of your departure flight, you may have a few hours left for some last-minute souvenir shopping in the medina or a final stroll through a peaceful city garden. When the time comes, your private driver will provide a comfortable and timely transfer to the Marrakech Menara Airport. As you check in for your flight, you will depart with a wealth of unforgettable memories, from the salty breezes of Essaouira to the historic walls of Taroudant, having experienced a truly unique and refreshing side of the Kingdom of Morocco.
